Opal

My name is Opal. I'm a single mom of two, and it's my proudest title.

I am surrounded by meaningful, supportive relationships. I have a great sense of humor, and sometimes it's inappropriate.

Nature keeps me grounded and I love it with my whole heart. Meeting interesting people is a gift I receive very often.

I'm forever a recovering lawyer. I studied law at Thammasat, I teach there today, but my career is a totally different story.

I have an obsession with learning, and here's the thing I've learned:

1I give myself full permission to be whoever I'm becoming. 2I allow myself to make mistakes, as many as it takes. 3I allow myself to change my mind. 4I don't put limits on who I can be or what I can build. 5Whatever happens, I know I'll do great and have lots of fun.

Say HelloI built this to put myself out there, to meet more interesting people, and to turn that into something real.Open toAn illustrated timeline of Opal's career, from lawyer in 2013 through Senna Labs, UNCTAD and teaching, with her education along the bottom. My CVA recovering lawyer who ended up running a software company. Say Hello

This website is a room full of my stories. Here is why I made it.

Why I made it

I am very lucky to have met many interesting people in my life, and I am surrounded by meaningful relationships.

I am surprisingly inspired by many of the people I have met, with no plan to do anything with them, or it happened randomly. I notice that it usually happens when we show vulnerability in our conversation, when we talk about something personal, our fear, our passion, our challenges or our hope.

I really enjoy that, so I decided to put myself out there by putting this up, hoping to connect with more people, make more friends, learn more, do more.

What I am hoping for

If you find anything interesting here, or we match on something, tell me. Reach out if you want to do it together.

There are a lot of different things I like to do, so if you read something here and you want to do it with me, do that. Go sailing, play golf, join a Spartan race, exercise together, read a book at the same time. Or just talk, about self discovery, children, tech, law, relationships, anything in here that you also care about. And feel free to propose something that is not even here. If you think I might like it, that is also fine, I might be interested to give it a try.

I would rather learn with people than alone.

Why a gallery

I like the feeling of walking into an art gallery. So this one is my room, like I put up an exhibition of myself, haha. Every story hangs on the wall like a picture, with a small label beside it. You choose what to look at, and you can filter the room by what you are in the mood for. The light in here is Bangkok's real sky, so when it is evening outside, it is evening in the gallery.

What is in the room

It is a mix of many things. Some of it is professional, some of it is very personal, some of it is funny or a bit unusual. There are stories, there are ideas, there are things I enjoy doing, and there are things I am open to doing and looking for a partner to do them with. I write them the way I would tell you across a table, which means they are honest, and sometimes they are messy.

One thing, so it is clear

Do not take this the wrong way, but it has happened to me many times. Is that a good problem? I am not sure, lol. Attraction is completely normal and I do appreciate it, especially in my late thirties. But please do not use this to take me on a date without me knowing it, lol. That is not what this room is for. I am here for friends and for people to learn with.

What I want back

If something here lands, say hello. Tell me which story, and what it made you think about. That is the whole point of the room.
